Here are some of the ways we have helped clients achieve their goals:

Developing leaders of change in the public sector

The client, LLUK, was the agency responsible for developing the workforce across the further education system. The government sponsored LLUK to recruit and develop a group of outstanding managers to help transform the further education system. The Cognitas Group delivered a comprehensive one-year programme to accelerate 100 participants to becoming outstanding leaders of change. The programme focused on various aspects of leadership: leading others; leading teams; leading organisations; and leading change. The aim was to help participants become extraordinary leaders with the flexibility and courage to bring change.

Preparing a financial services leadership team for difficult market conditions

The client CEO ran a large and successful part of a major UK financial institution. The leadership team had many solid, long-standing members and they were all very loyal and supportive to the CEO. However, the industry was entering the looming credit crunch and the business needed to continue to perform well despite greater resource constraints and uncertainty about the market. The CEO wanted to prepare the team for the challenges ahead, particularly to improve their ability to set shared priorities and make difficult decisions together. We helped the CEO and team to understand the current effectiveness of the team and where it could be improved. We then supported the team to clarify priorities, change their meeting structure and improve the quality of strategy discussions.

Building a high-performing HR function

The client had recently undergone a merger. It was a large organisation with several business units. The merger context was sensitive. The organisation needed a new HR function to meet the challenges of the business, in particular: recruiting and training operational staff; supporting the integration of the two organisations; and putting in place shared HR policies and systems. We worked with a core team of HR professionals and managers to design and launch the new HR function.
