We define leadership consulting as the discipline of helping leaders develop to get results. It’s a collection of approaches and activities from strategy consulting, psychology, development and coaching.
We founded The Cognitas Group because we want to help leaders in a more complete way that reflects the breadth and complexity of their roles. There are plenty of great consultants who do some leadership development. There are plenty of good leadership development specialists with HR or psychology backgrounds. We bring our background of strategic and organisational consulting together with our experience in leadership development.
Why is this so important? The most challenging business issues cannot usually be solved by operating in the status quo. Leadership development is always faster and stickier when it’s in the context of current business issues. Working on business issues and leadership development at the same time gives our clients both short- and long-term benefits.

So, we never work only on strategic/execution questions or only on generic leadership training. All our work addresses both current business issues and leadership development at the same time. It could be helping a team to set strategic direction whilst developing their effectiveness in working together. Or it could be delivering leadership programmes where participants work in groups on current business opportunities.
